NCS2 LLC was created to extend our expertise and diversity of technical experience in designing natural capital strategies that support our clients in building a bridge between economic generation and environmental protection. These strategies can additionally support but not be limited to the achievement of corporate sustainability and ESG goals, reduction of environmental footprints, enhancement of corporate stewardship reputation, protection of social license, minimization of environmental reserves on a balance sheet, and generation of value for shareholders. Many of the dauting pressures today around climate mitigation, the "just" transition and social equality don't need to be overburdening because there is opportunity to cost effectively and practically meet these challenges head-on through the integration of natural capital, associated ecosystem services and nature-based solutions (NbS). It all begins with an understanding of the natural capital available-whether on a project site or across an entire portfolio of assets.
Ginny King, CEO and President
Ginny King is a geologist with over 34 years of global experience within the environmental arena, She has extensive experience in designing and executing natural capital strategies to support clients in achieving corporate ESG, Sustainability, Biodiversity, and carbon goals, domestically and globally. She has provided expertise in strategically resolving environmental liability involving multiple contaminants in groundwater and soils, including petrochemical and manufacturing sites, legacy mining sites, pipeline, and refineries, by integrating natural capital and nature-based solutions (NbS). Additionally, she has provided Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NDA) support, Net Environmental Benefit Analysis (NEBA) technical assurance, regulatory and stakeholder advocacy during incident responses for petroleum spills, derailments, and hazardous substance releases in the United States, the Caribbean, Canada and South America. She has provided NDA and natural capital technical support on numerous complicated legacy sites domestically and globally and has led multiple teams of various levels of experience and disciplines to achieve environmental protection and sustainability, biodiversity protection, carbon footprint offsets and reduction of unnecessary mitigation. She has extrapolated tools to support a range of natural capital projects across diverse portfolios from negotiating upstream permits, mitigation and biodiversity offsets, carbon footprint reductions, water resource management, through downstream resolution of environmental liability and lost use, contaminated land management, revitalization of redundant properties and value-generating divestments. She has provided extensive stakeholder engagement and regulatory guidance for state and federal policy development, rulemaking and legislation processes including the United States Department of Defense, the State of Texas, the State of Colorado. the State of Montana, and the British Columbia Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
Joseph Steinbacher, Principal Joe is an applied ecologist with over 25 years of experience assessing the material services provided by the natural environment and the non-consumptive values of natural resources. He has worked globally on projects involving marine, estuarine, aquatic and upland habitats using economic valuation tools to quantify ecosystem services and develop nature-based solutions to achieve sustainability goals, promote conservation efforts, and mitigate natural resource liability. Joe is a problem solver and provides scientifically and legally defensible solutions to protect infrastructure and minimize economic impacts, offset carbon footprints, limit capital expenditures, honor sustainability commitments, enhance biodiversity, increase resiliency, and protect and sustain natural resources. In addition to his involvement in the natural capital space, Joe has extensive experience in emergency response and natural resource damage assessment (NRDA) providing program oversight for some of the largest Superfund and oil spill damage assessments in the United States. A skilled facilitator and consensus-builder, Joe has been invited to deliver workshops on cooperative assessment for the Department of Defense and various industry groups. He was awarded the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal and the U.S. Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation for his contributions to the field.
